Privacy & Cookies

Plain version: this site asks before it counts you. Google Analytics runs only if you accept, and never if your browser sends a privacy signal. Decline and the tag is switched off and its cookies are deleted. Nothing is sold or shared for advertising, and there is no advertising network here. This page covers crouton.ing; the shop runs somewhere else and is described below.

What is collected

01Analytics — only with your consent: pages viewed, time on page, approximate location (city level), device and browser, and the site that referred you. Collected through Google Analytics and processed by Google, which may associate it with activity it observes on other sites over time. That is why it stays off until you say yes.
02Contact form — the name, email address, and message you submit. Used only to reply to you, and stored in this site’s database and in the operator’s email.
03Server logs — your IP address and request details, recorded automatically by the web host for security and troubleshooting.

Cookies this site sets

01_ga — distinguishes one visitor from another. Expires after two years.
02_ga_SZQK5EV2ZE — keeps analytics session state for this specific property. Expires after two years.

These are only written after you accept. If you decline, the analytics tag is disabled and any existing analytics cookies are deleted on every page load. Your choice is stored locally in your browser and never sent anywhere — change it any time with the cookies link in the footer.

Stored in your browser

01crtn-consent — whether you accepted or declined analytics.
02crtn-theme — your light or dark mode choice.
03crtn-a11y — your contrast, motion and text-size settings.

These are localStorage entries rather than cookies. They stay on your device, are never transmitted to this site or anyone else, and clearing your browser’s site data removes them.

The shop

The shop at shop.crouton.ing is a separate service on a separate platform. It is operated for Crouton by Fourthwall, on their infrastructure, and nothing described above applies there — not the consent banner, not the analytics arrangement, not the cookie list.

01It sets its own cookies and shows its own consent banner — the choice you make here does not carry across, and the one you make there does not carry back. You will be asked again.
02It runs its own analytics — Fourthwall’s, through Google Tag Manager, plus Google reCAPTCHA at checkout. No Crouton analytics property is connected to it, and no advertising pixel or email-marketing tag is either.
03Payments are handled by Stripe — card details go to Stripe and Fourthwall. Crouton never receives them. What reaches Crouton is order and fulfilment information: what you bought, and where it is going.
04It has its own policy — read the shop’s privacy policy and terms of service before buying. Where they and this page disagree, they govern the shop and this page governs crouton.ing.

What is not collected

01No accounts, logins, or profiles for visitors.
02No payment details — crouton.ing has no checkout and takes no money. Buying happens on the shop, under the terms above.
03No advertising pixels, retargeting, or data brokers.
04Your information is never sold, traded, or shared for targeted advertising.
05No sensitive data: nothing about health, finances, precise location, or children.

Browser privacy signals

01Global Privacy Control — if your browser or extension sends it, this site treats it as a decline. Analytics stays off, no cookie notice is shown, and the accept option is hidden for as long as the signal is on.
02Do Not Track — handled exactly the same way. Most browsers have retired this setting, but it is still honoured here.
03The signal outranks any earlier choice — even if you accepted analytics before, turning the signal on switches it off again.

Your options

01Decline analytics with the cookies link in the footer. The site behaves identically either way.
02Block or clear cookies in your browser settings — nothing here depends on them.
03Install Google’s official Analytics opt-out add-on to opt out across every site.
04Ask for a copy of what is held about you, or ask for it to be deleted, by writing to the address below. Requests are honoured regardless of where you live, and there is no charge and no penalty for making one.

Changes to this policy

If what is collected or who receives it changes, this page is updated before the change takes effect, and the date at the bottom moves with it. Anything that widens what is collected will ask for consent again rather than assume it.
